Safeguarding

Roseacre Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of our children. We expect all staff, parents and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website. All adults who work in our school have been subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS.) All employed staff have been appropriately checked for their suitability, using the Safe Recruitment procedures.

To ensure online safety in school, all staff sign an agreed user policy (AUP) and all online systems have Kent schools’ broadband filter with user history monitored. Through assemblies, PHSE and Computing lessons students are made aware of the risks associated with being on line and using social media; as well as what is a healthy relationship and appropriate behaviour.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. 

If you are ever concerned about the safety or well‐being of someone at our school please talk to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead s (DSLs), Mrs E. Watson and Mrs A. Chattenton, or for an online safety concern you may also contact Mr J. Webber, who is our Online Safety Leader. Alternatively you can contact the Kent Safeguarding Children’s Board www.kscb.org.uk  or phone their reporting line on 03000 411111. If you feel the child is in immediate danger phone 999.

If a member of staff is concerned about a child’s welfare, they will record their concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible.

If a member of staff has concerns which relate to the actions or behaviour of another member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then this will be reported to one of the DSLs in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Head teacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Head teacher) who will consider what action to take.

Parents’ Guide to Technology
